Drew Tanner from the historic People’s Bank Theatre will be on hand to demonstrate his knowledge of 19th century historic photographing processes that include: ambrotypes, tintypes, glass negatives, ivorytypes and salt prints. The free event will take place on April 1 from 12-1 p.m. at the Campus Martius Museum in Marietta, Ohio. Don’t forget to pack a lunch!

Valerie Hamill portrays Civil War Herb Lady of Ohio and audience members can also make fresh herbal tussie mussie. Enjoy the opportunity to learn of the uses of many herbs that will have been harvested for your sensory pleasure. Smelling and touching the herbs will take you back to a simpler time when horse-drawn carriages were the main method of transportation, and when herb gardens were a critical part of survival for our ancestors.
Bio: Valerie Hamill is a member of the Big Walnut Area Historical Society and has served as chair of the Rosecrans Ladies Aid Society as well as a volunteer to the fundraising efforts for the Rosecrans statue. She is the director of the Ohio Herb Education Center in Gahanna, Ohio. Valerie and her husband Bruce live on Valerie’s family homestead in Galena and raise chickens and enjoy gardening.
