Parkersburg, West Virginia

The 1:00 p.m. program invites you to the Gift Shop area for an engaging presentation.
Teddy Roosevelt, in addition to being the 26th president of the United States (1901- 1909), won the Nobel Peace Prize, led the Rough Riders in the Spanish-American War, served as governor of New York, authored more than 35 books, ranched in the Badlands of the Dakota Territory, lectured around the world and established some of our most beloved national parks.
A strong advocate of the “life of strenuous endeavor,” Roosevelt pushed himself to overcome a sickly childhood. The youngest president in our history, he championed progressive reforms and a strong foreign policy. Portrayed by Gene Worthington of Fayetteville, this History Alive! portrayal will be at Blennerhassett Island at 1:00 p.m. Program lasts about one hour. Family-friendly. Open to the public at no cost.
The Teddy Roosevelt presentation is a History Alive! program made possible by the West Virginia Humanities Council and West Virginia State Park system.
Some quotes made by President Roosevelt:
“Far and away the best prize that life has to offer is the chance to work hard at work worth doing.”
“It is hard to fail, but it is worse never to have tried to succeed.”
“Keep your eyes on the stars, and your feet on the ground.”
