Trees of Our Heritage Exhibit
Love everything Christmas? We do too! Exhibit Runs NOW - Dec. 23, 2018
Christmas trees reflecting the holiday traditions of different countries and themes will be on display from mid-November through December at the Blennerhassett Museum of Regional History in Parkersburg.
The annual “Trees of Our Heritage” Christmas tree exhibit will begin with an opening reception from 1-3 p.m. Nov. 12 at the museum at Second and Juliana streets. Admission is free for the opening reception.
Nearly 40 decorated trees are featured in the exhibit, which is sponsored by the Friends of Blennerhassett and the museum.
The trees will be on display through Dec 23 on the museum’s first and second floors.
The Christmas trees are decorated by various groups with ornaments representing some of the many countries of origin of the people who have settled in America. Some of the places represented will include: Africa, Australia, the Caribbean Islands, Ecuador, England, France, Germany, Greece, India, Ireland, Italy, Mexico, the Netherlands, Russia, Scotland, Spain, Sweden, Canada, China, Japan and others.
There are also some special theme trees representing the Victorian, the Colonial and Pioneer eras, the spirit of Christmas, and More. If you love Christmas, you are sure to love this exhibit.

Admission is free
Live entertainment will be provided during the reception, including: Pamela Salisbury, Vienna Elementary Choir, Smoot Theatre Barbershop Singers, & Parkersburg High School Chamber Ensemble.
Refreshments will be provided by the Friends of Blennerhassett.
There will also be crafts for the children and a visit with Father Christmas in Victorian garb.
The trees will remain on exhibit in the museum through Dec. 23. The museum also features a video about the Blennerhassetts and the history of the island. Exhibits relating to Parkersburg and the Ohio Valley are on display from early ancient to 20th century relics. The museum is open year-round.

Regular museum admission is $4 for adults and $2 for children ages 3-12.
The museum and gift shop are open 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and 1-5 p.m. Sunday.
