Celebrate West Virginia Day on Blennerhassett Island with special guest, Mark Twain!

Location: Blennerhassett Island Historical State Park
137 Juliana Street
Parkersburg, West Virginia

West Virginia Day is a state holiday which celebrates the state's 1863 admission to the Union as a result of the secession of several northwestern counties of Virginia during the Civil War.

Mark Twain is one of America’s most celebrated authors and humorists. He is best known for novels, The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn and The Adventures of Tom Sawyer, but his work includes nonfiction, magazine articles, and commentaries that provide insight into the American story. Mark Twain was the pen name of Samuel Clemens.
Doug Riley portrays Mark Twain at 12:00 p.m. at the Brick Shelter on Blennerhassett Island. The program is free and open to the public to attend. Come to the island on West Virginia Day.
History Alive! presentations are made possible by the WV Humanities Council and the West Virginia State Park system.
