Children of the Blennerhassett Mansion Tour
Saturday, July 6, 2024, 1 – 2 p.m.
Learn about the children of the famous Blennerhassett Island Family. This parent/child educational event includes a Special Mansion Tour and Outdoor Activities. What were these children’s names and ages, where was their bedroom in the house, and why was one of them nicknamed “Little Snowdrop?” Participants will explore the various rooms of the Mansion from a child’s perspective and learn more about the Blennerhassett children’s parents. At the end of this tour, the youth will compare the Mansion with their own homes to recognize what things are different then and now. They will play some period games that the Blennerhassett children might have played and learn a children’s song from an earlier time. This program is designed for young people (in grades 3-6) accompanied by parent(s) or grandparent(s). It will be a fun day at Blennerhassett Island. Dick and Martha Hartley as Volunteer Educators for the Park will lead these activities.
The cost of this one-hour event is $5.00 for adults and $3.00 for kids plus your boat transportation cost to the Island. It is a rain or shine event. Call the Park’s Museum at 304-420-4800 if you have questions.
