Learn historical tidbits about the Putnam and the Blennerhassett families along with proper afternoon tea etiquette of the 1800s. This event will be held at Maple Shade, the original home of the Putnams, now located on Blennerhassett Island. This afternoon tea program allows you to explore its past through history and its social development in America. Explore the dos and don’ts of an afternoon tea in this time period. NOTE: Food is not served at this event – just history facts. However, take home some old recipes with modern adaptations so you can make some of the tea treats displayed on the antique tea service. Also learn some insights and details about Aaron and Charlotte Putnam and their close neighbors and friends, Harman and Margaret Blennerhassett, from the Putnam daughters. Can this “old house” talk during your visit to Maple Shade; come and see? The cost of this one-hour event is $5.00 for adults. Call the Park’s Museum at 304-420-4800 if you have questions.
