Come stretch your legs by participating in a 5K run or walk through beautiful St. Marys, WV and on Middle Island — part of the Ohio River Islands National Wildlife Refuge. Sign in begins at noon and the race starts at St. Mary’s Marina at 1pm. The route will take you briefly through St. Mary’s before crossing over onto the trails of Middle Island. This event is hosted by Friends of Ohio River Islands as their annual fundraiser in partnership with Pleasants County and the Ohio River Islands National Wildlife Refuge. The money raised will be used for conservation efforts in the river and on the islands, including:
o Plant trees and remove invasive plants on the Ohio River Islands
o Purchase native seeds
o Hire two summer interns to support the Refuge’s mission
