Blennerhassett Island mansion

Blennerhassett Island Historical Park

The site of the alleged plot by Aaron Burr and Harman Blennerhassett to establish a southwest empire. Features the reconstructed Blennerhassett Mansion, guided tours, concession stand, gift shop, narrated wagon rides, hiking trails and picnic facilities. The island is accessible by sternwheeler boat. Frequent special events include Mansion by Candlelight each October.

North Bend State Park

The park offers a multitude of recreational facilities in a beautiful pastoral setting. The fishing streams, lake, hiking trails, abundant wildlife and excellent overnight accommodations, lodge and cabins, and lodge dining room are some of the features of this year-round park.

North Bend rail Trail

The trail stretches 72 miles across north-central and western West Virginia. This wilderness path takes travelers across 36 bridges and through 10 tunnels and is part of the 5,500-mile American Discovery Trail, which spans the length of the United States. The trail has become one of the most renowned recreational trails through the Appalachians, and is known for its mountainous scenery and varied views of shaded tree canopies, rock cuts and farmland.

Mountwood Park

Mountwood Park is one of West Virginia’s largest and most beautiful parks, located twelve miles east of Parkersburg, WV on Rt. 50 at Volcano Road exit. Here, two thousand six hundred acres of natural, rolling woodlands, a fifty acre lake which offers barrier free recreational facilities open to the public all year long for leisure time pursuits.
