Looking for a little summer adventure on the water? The Marietta Adventure Company (Marietta, Ohio) will offer seven seasonal guided kayaking tours.

Backwater Tour (Full day trip/5-6 hrs.)

This 6-10 mile guided trip offers exploration into three backwater areas along the Ohio River along with glimpses of the Wayne National Forest.  The group will paddle along islands, stop at the “the Jug” dairy bar for a lunch break, and explore backwaters and streams full of abundant plant and wildlife. 

 

Historic Lock & Dam Tour (Full day trip/5-6 hrs.)

Did you know that the Muskingum River has the only remaining hand-operated lock and dam system in the US? On this casual eight-mile trip, the group will lock through the dam! There is also the option of stopping at the Edgewater Café (greasy spoon) for a bite to eat before reaching the dam. After the dam, you’ll paddle downstream past parked Sternwheelers to Marietta.

 

Upper Duck Creek (Full day trip/5-6 hrs.)

During this 15 mile trip, the group will pass abandoned bridges, picturesque forest and farmland, and a few thrilling fast riffles!  (Available hinging on river level.) 

 

Little Muskingum (Full day trip/5-6 hrs.)

During this 9 or 14 mile option, you’ll pass covered bridges, forest and farmland, and more!  (Available hinging on the river level.)

 

Sunset Paddle (1-3 hrs.)

This is a three-mile guided kayak paddle at sunset.  Paddlers start on the Muskingum River, paddle through Marietta to the Ohio River, where they pass by Buckley Island. Paddlers may choose to stop and swim or relax and enjoy the sunset from the water.

 

Full Moon Paddle (1-3 hrs.)

The guided 3-mile paddle begins after dark.  Paddlers start on the Muskingum River, paddle through Marietta to the Ohio River, where we pass by Buckley Island. Kayaks will be equipped with lights to be visible to other boats on the water.

 

Daytime Muskingum River (1-3 hrs.)

This guided paddle is during the day and encompasses a 3 or 6-mile down-steam paddle beginning on the Muskingum River and passing down through Marietta to finish on the Ohio River.
