Things to Do
Blennerhassett Island Historical State Park
Dogs can board the Island Belle Sternwheeler and take a trip to Blennerhassett Island Historical State Park. This is a great spot for “dog-tographers,” as the reconstructed Blennerhassett Mansion makes an excellent backdrop. Blennerhassett Island is ideal for those seeking a unique walk or picnic with their pups, though the normal activities like guided mansion tours and horse-drawn wagon rides are not pet-friendly.
North Bend State Park offers numerous hiking trails for dogs and their owners, including the 72-mile North Bend Rail Trail, which follows a rail-banked B&O Railroad corridor with several tunnels. The North Bend Lodge offers a Voyage! Package for two that combines the North Bend and Blennerhassett Island experiences. For more information, visit wvstateparks.com.
Julia-Ann Square Historic District
Julia-Ann Square Historic District is the largest Victorian home district in West Virginia. Owners can use the district’s street parking and take a leisurely walk to admire the architectural beauty. This is another fantastic stop for “dog-tographers,” especially in Spring or Fall when the trees are blooming or turning orange. An in-depth walking guide to the district is available at our Welcome Center at 113 Ann St.
Owners can go camping with their dogs at Mountwood Park, which offers numerous hiking and biking trails. The park features a dog park, Mountwood Bark Park “Paws to Play,” which is open year-round. In the summer, water is available to dogs at special fire hydrant watering stations. The park includes waste disposal stations, and owners are encouraged to clean up after their pets. The 22,000 sq ft park has separate sections for small and large dogs, along with benches and a water fountain for owners to relax while their dogs play.

Where to Eat
If you’re staying in the Blennerhassett Hotel, you can have your pup accompany you for outdoor seating on the patio, or you’re welcome to leave your dog in your room as you dine at the restaurant. The North Bend Restaurant also has pet-friendly seating for owners and their dogs outside at their patio.
Parkersburg Brewing Co. in downtown Parkersburg has a small section of outdoor seating, which dogs are welcome. Reservations are encouraged as there is limited outdoor seating.
daVinci’s in Williamstown also has outdoor seating that is available for pets and their owners.
