Mansion By Candlelight

The Blennerhassetts are hosting a party on the island on Friday & Saturday, October 9 & 10, 2026!

For two nights only! As you board the Island Belle sternwheeler at Civitan Park in Belpre, Ohio, you will begin your journey to Blennerhassett Island where an enchanted world only known to Harman and Margaret Blennerhassett existed over 200 years ago. Transformed into an 18th-century party, Blennerhassett Island and its magnificent mansion are illuminated by hundreds of candles and lantern boxes. Docents, dressed in the style of the period, will welcome you. The soft glow of candlelight will weave a mesmerizing spell ‘round about you as you listen to the music, see 18th-century dances, or watch a lively game of cards, before strolling outside to enjoy the many planned activities on the island. While on the island, plan to take a horse-drawn wagon ride, visit the gift shop, and warm yourself by an inviting bonfire at the servants’ party where another spirited party is going on. At the servants’ party you will hear Appalachian music, see clogging, watch apple butter being made and hear haunting stories of local folklore.

All the evening’s excitement will likely make you hungry. A special candlelight “harvest supper” (picnic-style meal) consisting of carved tavern ham, homestyle garlic mashed potatoes with gravy, green beans (w/onion & bacon) OR buttered corn, dinner rolls and whipped butter, and for dessert: cookies, brownies or pumpkin pie. Beverages will include tea (sweet & unsweetened) and water.

The Harvest Supper will be offered on both evenings with advance reservations. Reservations are required.

Ticket includes round-trip boat ride, horse-drawn wagon ride and Mansion by Candlelight.
